Your Path to Wellness Starts Here

tennis_elbowWho do you know that’s suffers with tennis elbow in San Jose? It is a very common problem.  Did you know that as many as 50% of all tennis players suffer from tennis elbow at some point in their years of playing this sport.

Biggest Issues with Tennis Elbow

It all comes down to pain and inflammation. The muscles and tendons around the outside of the elbow are most affected. Acupuncture relieves the pain and inflammation brought on by repetitive motion. Many repetitive stress injuries are relieved with just a couple of acupuncture treatments. Tennis elbow, mouse elbow, golfing, skiing, planting bulbs, even knitting are all repetitive motions that can cause the same pain and inflammation.

Competitive Tennis Players Get Great Results from Acupuncture

I treat competitive tennis players in San Jose for this problem with great results. The pain and inflammation really effects their game and ultimately, their standing – 3.5 and 4.0 players are simply not able to take time off to let things heal on their own.

Tennis elbow injuries can result from:

Accident: Falling with an outstretched arm or even a tennis ball hitting the outside of the elbow can cause tennis elbow.

Overuse: Overuse can be caused by repetitive movements without long enough period of recovery. Consistent movements that involve twisting of the elbow can cause small tears in the tendon which in turn will cause inflammation and pain. How hard or how long you do something will determine how likely you are to develop tennis elbow.

Equipment. Is your equipment too heavy for you? Is the grip too large or small for your hand?

Technique: The way you do an activity is especially important in treatment of tennis elbow. Holding your racket, golf club or a tool in a awkward
position while you use it will strain the supporting muscles.

Tennis Elbow or Mouse Elbow?

Good question! Tennis elbow is often exacerbated by use a computer. In fact, repetitive strain from the use of a mouse at your computer is especially common here, in the heart of Silicon Valley. If it goes too long without treatment, mouse elbow can become very debilitating! The good news is, like tennis elbow, mouse elbow can also be treated with acupuncture!
